Hey, I'm Codi! A western luxury wedding photographer in Northern California. Traveling near and far for love, I'm available for intimate destinations, elopements and more!
Being from Northern California is just about as western as you can get, so it’s no surprise I’ve always had an obsession with western weddings. I love it all- the cowboy hats, the wildflowers, the bridal boots, the cowhide print, all of it. I especially love when my couples add some modern twists to a classic western wedding aesthetic. And that was exactly the vibe at Cheyanne and Corbin’s gorgeous summer wedding at Little Bear Creek Ranch in Anderson, California. In this post, I’ll be covering all things western weddings from design and decor to venues. Plus I’ll talk a little more about this lovely couple and share some details as well as all the photos from their big day!
The best part about a western wedding theme is there are so many ways to incorporate it into the small details of your day. I love when my couples add western elements to their wedding day looks. For my brides, that might be some white cowboy boots, turquoise jewelry or a fun hat for the reception. For the groom, wide brim hats, bolo ties and black cowboy boots add a subtle yet stylish flair to their wedding day attire. There’s tons of options when it comes to your ceremony and reception decor as well. Floral design is an easy way to infuse your theme with lots of colorful wildflowers from bouquets to ceremony decor and centerpieces. A rustic wooden arch or faux cowhide print rug are great options for western ceremony decor. When it comes to small details, Cheyanne and Corbin had so many fun western elements that they incorporated throughout the day. For their reception, the seating chart was made of little bottles of bourbon for each guest which also served as wedding favors. For centerpieces, they chose neutral boho wedding flowers with dried grasses for a simple and rustic look. And their venue is what really tied the theme together. Little Bear Creek Ranch is a modern barn venue made of gorgeous reclaimed wood and has acres of gorgeous farmland surrounding the property. Truly the perfect place for a modern rustic wedding!
Little Bear Creek Ranch: A modern barn wedding venue nestled in the rolling hills of Shasta County. With over 400 acres of gorgeous farmland, there’s plenty of indoor and outdoor options for your ceremony and reception. Not to mention endless options for stunning wedding photos. There’s also a historic farmhouse on the property that couples can use when getting ready or to spend the night after their celebration.
River Highlands Ranch: Located just outside of Sacramento, this hidden gem barn wedding venue is surrounded by massive oak trees and miles of rolling hills. The lofted whitewash barn is the perfect reception space that sits among the vineyards. This would be a perfect venue for an intimate western wedding but they can also accommodate large celebrations. The simple and chic barn is a great backdrop for any design scheme you’re envisioning or is beautiful on its own. There’s also a spacious bridal suite equipped with everything you need to get ready for your big day.
Sacramento River House: This venue is located right in the heart of Anderson, California but still feels spacious and secluded. If you’re envisioning an outdoor wedding ceremony and reception, this is the perfect place. With over 15 acres of riverfront property, couples can dance the night away with their guests under the stars. There’s also an intimate barn venue that’s available to use. This venue is a perfect blank space to bring your western wedding style to life. Plus, it’s easily accessible for your guests!
Centerville Estates: This Northern California wedding venue feels straight out of a fairytale with its towering trees, cobblestone paths and trickling waterfalls. It has one of my favorite outdoor reception spaces that makes you feel like you’re in an enchanted forest. The ivy archways and views of Butte Creek make for the perfect wedding photo locations. Plus, it’s easily accessible for guests no matter where they’re traveling from.
Now for the main event, Cheyanne and Corbin’s romantic and joyful western wedding! Love was truly in the air on this day and the joy was palpable among their guests. Not to mention these lovebirds are beyond adorable. It’s so hard to narrow in on my favorite parts, but their adorable “first look” was definitely one of them. While they didn’t see each other until Cheyanne walked down the aisle, they held hands and read love letters before the ceremony which I loved- best of both worlds! Speaking of walking down the aisle, Corbin had the sweetest reaction to his beautiful bride and could not control the tears as she walked towards him. There was not a dry eye in the crowd as they exchanged their emotional vows. And then, it was time to party! Their loved ones gave the sweetest toasts and everyone had a blast hitting the dance floor all night long.
Every moment of this sweet western wedding made for such an unforgettable day and I feel grateful to have been a part of it!
