Codi Baer is a Wedding Photographer? Why, yes!

Codi Baer shoots weddings first and foremost – in case you didn’t know.

I know. Why am I talking about the fact that I’m a wedding photographer when my portfolio is literally full of wedding photos? Am I beating a dead horse?

Well, no.

Here’s the thing: Some people contact me through Instagram or Pinterest for couples’ photos or engagement photos, never realizing that I am, at heart, a wedding photographer. I think this has something to do with Matt and Abby Howard’s maternity photo shoot. A lot of people have found me through influencers or celebrity photographs when I’m so much more than that. I’ve literally been told by people, “I didn’t know you did wedding photos!”

Whaaaaat?

So, to answer that question, why, yes. I do take wedding photos. More to the point, Codi Baer Photography isn’t just a business for me, it’s a passion. I thought I’d spend a little time and tell you why.

I always knew I wanted to work in the wedding industry. At first, I thought I’d be a planner. When in high school, I spent a couple of summers working for Heart S Ranch in Cottonwood, California. Working with the venue owner I learned the ins and outs of running a business. I had a blast. By the time I entered college, I knew what I wanted to do—take wedding photos for a living. I’d been playing around with cameras since my pre-teens, and so it was an easy transition.

Why weddings? Blame my mom. She’s a best-selling romance author. My whole life I watched her write grown-up fairy tales (as she likes to call them) and I thought, “How cool.” Codi Baer, wedding photographer, was born of my desire to do the same thing—only through images. I’ll never forget the first time my mom said one of my pictures could be the cover of one of her romance novels. Yay!

Fast forward to now and I have to pinch myself at times that this is what I get to do for a living. I want to capture a couple’s love. I want to document the journey. I want my couples to look back at the images and be catapulted back to a moment in time. That is my goal for every session, every wedding, every event.
