Sunset Beach Engagement Photos in Hawaii

I’m so excited to share this engagement photo album shot in one of my favorite places in the world- Hawaii! Home to some of the most picturesque beaches in the world, I can’t think of a more stunning spot for beach engagement photos. This playful and fun engagement session was captured on the sand at sunset. Our couple even hopped into the water which made for some gorgeous shots. In this blog, we’ll cover ideas for beach engagement photo outfits, how to prepare for your engagement session and tips for booking a travel photographer. See more of this beach engagement photo album at the end of this post!

Beach Engagement Photo Outfits

The beach is the perfect setting for both formal and casual engagement photos. If you’ve traveled to Hawaii, you know the vibe is very laid back and easy going. Our couple’s engagement photo outfits choices reflected just that. Plus, I absolutely love that they chose swimsuits for their second outfit choices! They totally embraced their beach engagement photo theme and it made for amazing photos!

I always recommend bringing a couple outfit options to your session for more versatility in your photos. Not only that, but you’ll have a backup option just in case. A lot of couples will do a dressier option and a more casual option which I always think is a great idea. It’s also nice to coordinate with your partner so your outfit choices compliment each other. Try to avoid busy patterns or colors that could distract from the real focus of your engagement photos- your love!

How to Prepare for Your Engagement Session

I know getting in front of the camera can be both exciting and nerve wracking, especially if it’s your first time! Here’s a few tips for couples preparing for engagement photos to get the most out of their shoot.

Choose a location and outfits that feel true to who you are as a couple. The day of your engagement session is not the time to try out a new trend or wear something you don’t totally feel comfortable in. Choosing a setting where you feel relaxed and wearing something you feel confident in will translate to amazing photos!

Adding some fun elements can help enhance your engagement photos and make them unique. But again, you don’t want to go overboard and distract from and your partner. Having said that, bringing a bottle of champagne to pop or a cute picnic blanket to pose on can create some fun and unique engagement photos. When they’re done right, props can be a great engagement session idea!

Booking a Travel Photographer

If you have your heart set on a certain location for your engagement photos or wedding portrait session, chances are you’ll have to travel. If you’re looking for sunset beach engagement photos, Hawaii could not be more idyllic. You and your partner love the cold? A winter engagement session in the mountains of Colorado might be more your style. Whatever setting you choose, booking a traveling photographer gives you the flexibility to have exactly what you want.

I’ve traveled all over the world capturing couples, so I understand how to get the most out of your session in all different types of locations. Booking a travel photographer with experience shooting at your destination can provide you with location, travel, outfit recommendations and more. Together, we can create stunning images that you’ll cherish forever!
