The Perfect Western Wedding Aesthetic

Envisioning your wedding beneath vast blue skies and rolling hills? Western wedding decor, bridal boots, and wildflowers? I couldn’t be more excited to see that the western wedding aesthetic is such a huge trend for the upcoming wedding season. I’m excited to share a recent styled elopement that is the definition of western wedding aesthetic and features one of the most unique long sleeve wedding dresses that I’ve seen. In this post, we’ll talk more about the details of this stunning wedding dress perfect for your western wedding aesthetic. I’ll also cover some of my favorite posing tips and of course talk more about my favorite trend this year, western weddings!

Dreamy Western Wedding Aesthetic Dress

This dreamy wedding dress has all the prettiest bridal gown trends, but my favorite has to be the detachable sleeves. I absolutely love this trend because it gives you two bridal looks without having to change dresses. Not to mention, the corset details, floral appliques and shimmering tulle fabric are absolutely stunning and perfect for that ethereal bridal look. This dress is such a show stopper it doesn’t need much in the way of accessories. Our bride wore a gorgeous braided wedding updo and her wildflower bouquet brought the whole style together. Obsessed!

The Western Wedding Aesthetic

Looking for chic and stylish ways to incorporate your western style into your wedding day? This trend is so fun and versatile, giving you so many ways to incorporate your western theme into your wedding day attire, ceremony and reception decor, food and drinks, music, and more. One of my favorite parts of this shoot is our groom’s wide brimmed hat for that quintessential western style. I also love when a bride rocks boots like in our recent feature of Wendy and Caleb’s wedding (see the full post here). I’ve even seen groom bolo ties and bridal cowboy hats that looked amazing! 

There are endless ways to incorporate western style into your wedding. Adding pampas grass and dried flowers to your wedding bouquets. Faux cowhide runners for your wedding ceremony. Vintage floral bridesmaid dresses. Whiskey tastings during cocktail hour. Using a vintage truck to display flowers or even serve as your bar filled with tubs of ice and drinks! There are so many fun ways to make this trend your own and the possibilities are truly endless.

Wedding Photo Posing

Now onto one of my favorite topics as a wedding and travel photographer- posing! This has to be the biggest thing that couples are nervous about when they come to shoot their engagement session or even on their big day. It’s also one of the reasons hiring an experienced photographer pays off in the end. I understand how to capture couples and help create a fun and relaxed environment so we can capture your love authentically. I always tell my clients, I am not looking for professional models. I’m a professional that specializes in getting the most out of your photo shoot, so leave it to me! 

Some of my favorite shots from this session are the golden hour photos of our bride. I love to tell my brides to spin and give a full view of their dress which always makes for beautiful shots that capture the movement and details of the dress as the light hits it in different ways. Another favorite for western wedding aesthetic photos? The groom’s wide brimmed hat hiding their kiss. As a wedding photographer it’s also important to capture all the little details, from the ring sliding onto the bride’s finger or the intricate blooms of her bridal bouquet.
