Downtown Date Night San Francisco Engagement Photos

Looking for a way to add some personality to your engagement session? Consider a date night theme! Every couple has a mutual interest they enjoy or favorite date night spot that’s special to their relationship. So why not include it in your engagement session to commemorate this special time before you’re a married couple?! That’s exactly what Akash & Shivangi wanted when it came to their downtown San Francisco engagement photos. We explored the city together and stopped for drinks at their favorite watering hole. Date Night Session Theme

A date night engagement session is SUCH a fun way to add some personality to your photos and make them feel authentic to who you are as a couple. Akash & Shivangi wanted two “themes” for their session. We started with a more formal session at their favorite San Francisco bar for cocktails. They wore dressy outfits and we got some cozy shots in the beautifully styled spaces throughout the bar as they sipped their favorite drinks. Pro tip: make sure you contact the bar before you show up to shoot! Oftentimes, they’ll request that you come in early before they open and will allow you to really get comfortable during the session! 

Next for their San Francisco engagement photos we explored the city for a more casual, laid back feel. We got some cool shots in crosswalks with skyline views framing the background and traffic racing by. They also got some custom newspapers printed with their wedding date and engagement announcement printed on them and they might have been my favorite part of the shoot! I love when couples bring props to experiment and get creative during the session, and this is one I highly recommend.

San Francisco Engagement Photo Locations

If you’ve been here for a minute, you know that San Francisco is one of my favorite places to shoot modern weddings, courthouse elopements and downtown engagement sessions. The city and surrounding areas truly have endless shooting locations and they all have their own unique flair. If you want a downtown city vibe like Akash & Shivangi, there are so many cool and aesthetic bars to choose from no matter your style. You can also get a beachy vibe on the coast and of course a few shots with the Golden Gate Bridge in the backdrop is a must have for any San Francisco engagement photos.
